A couple of weeks ago I posted an article about being thankful for what we have. Let us not forget about the idea of giving as well as thanking. Today I saw that my friend Jason posted the following about a little girl who was recently diagnosed with Bilateral Wilms Disease (which is cancer in both kidneys). Jason is a person I know to be a man of integrity, hard work (as demonstrated by the fact that he built his house with his own two hands, and of course a little bit of help from his family, but not much :)), a caring dad and husband…just an all around nice guy. So the fact that he wants to help this family is why I am doing this.  Jason has stated in his blog that his goal was to get one person to help this family. Another nice gentlemen named Ed, who I used to work for and am friends with (in fact he helped me build my site), posted his own blog saying that he will be that one person. What a great gift for this time of caring and family.

The goal here is no different folks. If we can get at least one person to make a donation, it would be a huge lift for this family in need. If you host a bog, perhaps you can join in by posting this blog or linking to this one or one of the others on this post.

Here is the letter from the friend of the family in need, and photo of the little girl:

   Â

On October 10th 2006, Katie was diagnosed with Bilateral Wilms Disease(cancer in both kidneys). Katie started chemo on October 20th at the Mayo Clinics in Rochester Minn. Katie will be going back to the mayo clinics on Dec.15 for more CT Scans to see if she is responding to the Chemo, the last scan showed the left kidney was not responding at all but the right kidney was. At her appointment on Dec 15th she will be scheduled for a January surgery to take out the left kidney and what tumors they can remove from the right. Then Katie will come back home for more Chemo, before going back to the mayo clinics for another surgery. then more chemo. Her chemo will last a total of 24 weeks.

This is a family in need, they are in foreclosure of their home caused by Katie’s medical bills and travel. They have to vacate their home in 30 days or so and need a new one. Lynn and my family purchased them several needed items things like pillows, blankets clothes and some toys. They are in need and I am asking that if you can give any amount to this family it would be a great relief. My goal is to come up with money to pay the security deposit and 6 month of rent in a new place. They have purchased a used van (after loosing there vehicle) interest has to be high she is paying 150.00 bi-weekly and is having a difficult time making the payments WITH OUT THIS VAN THEY COULD NOT GET KATIE TO MAYO CLINIC FOR TREATMENT. . I would like to raise $4500.00. Another Drywall Company will start the donation by donating $1,000.00 cash and $500.00 in gas vouchers.

Thank you for your help, You can make the check payable to Gina Beerbower I can pick it up from you or you can mail it to 6316 NE 99th Crt Johnston, IA please address the envelope out to Antoinette Garwood. I will be collecting all funds and then as a hole deliver to the family to be used for the specific purpose.

Something to say?
