Song of the Day – ‘Adicto a Tu Piel’ by Frankie Negron

Posted by Sergio on August 24th, 2009

It’s been a while since Mr Negron came out with new single and it was worth the wait. This latest effort from the recently released “Holding On To Love” EP shows that Frankie’s got chops. There is a reason why Marc Anthony reached out to this guy and helped him get started. I wish I would have been able to find the video to post out here, but it was not possible. So, you have some homework to do. Go out to iTunes or your favorite mp3 outlet and download a copy, now! You will like this song!

**Update – Frankie’s newest single “Torn” drops tomorrow. I will keep y’all posted.

Ran across this song, by one of the mega power houses of Salsa, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, in my iPod. I love these little moments of serendipity.

This is a favorite of my friends Javier and Claire. It’s an oldie but definitely a goodie. Not too sure about the lyrics, but the music is great! Take a listen and judge it yourself. You will like this song.

Song of the Day – “Confianza” by Adolescents Orquesta

Posted by Sergio on August 14th, 2009

This young group (as the name would imply) from Venezuela, has been around since the late 90s and will soon be releasing their sixth album. They have put out hits like ‘Anhelo’, ‘Hoy Aprendi’, ‘Personal Ideal’, ‘Arrepentida’, ‘Clase Social’ and more recently, their smash hit ‘Aquel Lugar’ and this gem called ‘Confianza’. I wish I could have gotten a better video, but there were no good options out there on YouTube.

This group, lead by Porfi Baloa, has a very infectious rhythm with a very unique sound. I say this because, you will almost immediately recognize their songs because of their emblematic use of the baritone saxophone. Even with some of their slower salsa, you cannot help but dance.

Again, I apologize for the video, but I leave you with… Confianza…
