It’s been a while…

Posted by Sergio on October 15th, 2007

Hello Latin Rhythmz’ friends. It has certainly been a while since we last posted any blog entries, salsa suggestions, music profiles, etc. So,, I figured that I should put out a little bit of a state of the Latin Rhythmz address. It has been a great and busy summer and beginning of fall.

Des Moines Latin nightlife has been growing tremendously and I have been fortunate enough to be involved in many of the events promoting Latin music. These included, but were not limited to the Iowa State Fair, where Latin Rhythmz was able to work with the ISF committee to bring you “Grupo Fuego”, to the Latino Heritage Festival, where I was honored to be selected as the entertainment chair for the second year in a row. There have been weddings, parties, events, Tuesdays at The Warehouse (formerly known as Kelysters) and well, any reason to dance some salsa.

With fall here and winter just around the corner, we are trying to organize and collaborate with businesses here in Des Moines, to continue to bring you great salsa, merengue, bachata and more. I will try as much as possible to keep you up to date on upcoming Latin Rhythmz events and partnerships. I will also try to post updates on new songs that are catching people’s attention out there.

As always, thank you for your continued support through the years. It has been a phenomenal run and I don’t see a slow down for the forseeable future.

Thanks,
Sergio

Where’s Latin Rhythmz?

Posted by Sergio on April 2nd, 2007

Hello all…well it’s been a while since our last post. Just wanted to assure everyone that we are still here and going strong. In fact, we have had several events around town. Whether it’s been Latin Rhythmz playing the music or helping with audio or promoting events, we have been doing what we can to bring great salsa and other music to Des Moines. We thank everyone for all the help and support. Please stay tuned for updates coming very soon.

In the meantime, don’t forget that we are still out at Keysters along with our friends at Salsa Iowa. We are also still playing at the Hotel Fort Des Moines once a month. Usually the last Friday or Saturday of every month. The next Hotel Fort Des Moines dance will be Friday, April 27th so stay tuned for more information about that as well.

    Giving

Posted by Sergio on December 6th, 2006

A couple of weeks ago I posted an article about being thankful for what we have. Let us not forget about the idea of giving as well as thanking. Today I saw that my friend Jason posted the following about a little girl who was recently diagnosed with Bilateral Wilms Disease (which is cancer in both kidneys). Jason is a person I know to be a man of integrity, hard work (as demonstrated by the fact that he built his house with his own two hands, and of course a little bit of help from his family, but not much :)), a caring dad and husband…just an all around nice guy. So the fact that he wants to help this family is why I am doing this.  Jason has stated in his blog that his goal was to get one person to help this family. Another nice gentlemen named Ed, who I used to work for and am friends with (in fact he helped me build my site), posted his own blog saying that he will be that one person. What a great gift for this time of caring and family.

The goal here is no different folks. If we can get at least one person to make a donation, it would be a huge lift for this family in need. If you host a bog, perhaps you can join in by posting this blog or linking to this one or one of the others on this post. (more…)
